Past work

Some of what we've built, told by the people who played it.

Past creator agreements mean we keep specific servers and names private — but the people who played and built alongside us agreed to share what it was actually like. Names below are withheld by request.

Boss design

We wanted a final boss that actually required the whole team to coordinate instead of just tanking hits. They came back with a three-phase fight that had unique mechanics per phase, built and tested in about ten days. It's still the most-clipped moment from our launch stream.

Economy & plugins

Our biggest worry going in was the economy breaking the moment a few thousand fans joined at once. It didn't. They stress-tested it ahead of time and caught two exploits we never would have found ourselves before they ever reached players.

World design

Spawn is the first thing every fan screenshots, so it mattered more than anyone outside the project probably realizes. What we got back didn't look like a generic SMP spawn — it looked like it belonged to us specifically.

Discord tooling

The verification and rank-sync bot they built meant our mod team stopped manually approving whitelist requests entirely. Small thing, but it saved us hours every week once the server actually took off.

Turnaround

I sent over a half-formed idea for a mining mechanic in a Discord voice call, mostly just thinking out loud. Two days later there was a working prototype to test. That speed is rare — usually you wait weeks just to hear whether something's feasible.

Ongoing support

The part nobody warns you about is everything that breaks after launch, not before. They stayed on through the first month of live issues and kept shipping small fixes and features without us having to chase anyone down for it.
